Today, unemployment is up and the economy is in a poor state. People are losing their jobs due to necessary downsizing. Healthcare is one of the few exceptions and the demand remains high, particularly for nurses due to a very-big shortage. That’s why a continuing course education nursing online is an excellent career choice for people who enjoy helping others while they earn an excellent salary and exceptionally-good job security at the same time.

The Internet provides educational opportunities for a better career

Continuing course education nursing online is readily available from well-established institutions who recognize that the Internet is prime educational media. An accredited nursing online school can provide a unique opportunity to train for a nursing career while continuing to earn a living elsewhere, raise young children at home and learn at the most comfortable pace for you. It eliminates the need to attend a formal campus on a daily basis and it also costs considerably less than traditional forms of job training. It provides an important opportunity to learn a new career without disrupting your current job or home life until you are qualified to begin your new career.

Progress in a nursing career continuing course education nursing online

You can start a nursing career as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and then progress to being a registered nurse (RN) while working through continuing course education nursing online. RNs can train to become nurse practitioners too and gain many opportunities that were formally reserved for doctors. More important, it doesn’t have to stop there. You can continue your online nursing education, earn a BS in nursing and, eventually, earn an MS as well at an accredited nursing online school. Each step upward will bring you higher earnings and more job security. There are also interesting, well-paid specialties in nursing including forensic nursing, legal nursing, flight nursing, etc. Online education is readily available for these specialties in addition to general degree programs.

Beginning online nursing education: LPN nursing online school

Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) fulfill a vital healthcare function by caring for people who are injured, sick, convalescing or disabled under the supervision and direction of RNs and doctors. Basically, what they do is to provide basic bedside care for these patients. These responsibilities typically include providing and recording vital signs of weight, height, temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration. They also prepare and administer injections, enemas, catheters, dress and re-dress wounds and give massages and alcohol rubs. Patients are kept comfortable by nurses with help in bathing, dressing, hygiene, standing & walking. In many cases, licensed practical nurses also help with feeding and may supervise nursing assistances and aides. LPNs also collect samples for laboratory analysis and testing, record fluid intake and output and generally aid RNs and physicians in performing necessary tests and procedures. Some also help care for infants and report adverse reactions to medications.

Online LPN schools will make this happen

An LPN nursing online school will prepare you to do all of the above and more in far less time than a familiar campus education and it will cost you less too. You will learn at your own pace and when the course work is completed, you will be qualified for an entry-level nursing position at hospitals, schools, rehab facilities, private practices, clinics and in home care settings. In one year or less from your online educational start, you can begin an exciting, new nursing career.

Funding is available for an accredited nursing online school

According to statistics, more than 60-percent of students seeking an online education for a nursing career require some kind of financial aid to fund the cost of their studies. The good news here is that there are a variety of programs that can provide the necessary funding for you. There are scholarships, student loans from federal, state and private sources, college grants, and more. The whys and wherefores of financial aid are a very extensive subject. Nevertheless, almost all accredited online colleges, universities and trade schools have detailed information on financial aid for their students and stand ready to help you secure it.

When Jobs are Scarce, an Accredited Nursing Online School May Be Your Best Bet for a Secure Future!

September 2, 2008 by Nursingonlineeducation.com · 2 Comments

When unemployment is high and job security is falling, an accredited nursing online school offers you a unique opportunity for a secure career. Now, you can train for nursing careers online affordably and progress at your own pace.

Right now, it’s a statistical fact that there is a continually-growing shortage of nurses nationwide. Just read through the classified job ads in any city’s Sunday newspaper and this becomes readily apparent. Jobs are plentiful, despite the fact that most other industries are plagued with layoffs and unreliable job security. Hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities now have a very-real need for nurses at every level from licensed practical nurses (LPNs)—to registered nurses (RNs)—to nursing supervisors. Salaries and benefits are great and the job security is unsurpassed. Moreover, government projections state that this field will continue be short on people well into the future. Simply stated, this means that there’s never been a better opportunity to get into a new career and reap the rewards of good pay and real security. Online LPN nursing schools can make it happen for you fast!

It can happen for you with an online nursing education

Thanks to the Internet, you can get your start at one of the many online LPN schools and learn at your own pace without leaving your home. You can become certified as a Licensed Practical Nurse first, start working and then obtain the necessary educational credentials to move up to getting your Registered Nurse degree online while you are working. And you can do so at whatever pace is most comfortable for you. There’s no need to travel to a traditional campus to study or to sacrifice much-needed regular income either. This is a particularly desirable situation for mothers with small children at home and nursing opportunities are also suitable for men. You will also progress upward in your new career more quickly and at less overall cost than you would with a traditional campus education.

Start as an LPN and set your sights on becoming a Registered Nurse

U.S. Bureau of Health Professions statistics state that there will be a shortage of registered nurses that greater than 1.7 million by the year 2020, with less than half that number actually available to healthcare employers. The U.S. Department of Labor has also stated that registered nursing will be the number one occupation for job growth during the next four years. There is no better career choice to set your sites on, nor is one likely to appear in the foreseeable future. That’s why it makes good sense to start an LPN nursing online school now, obtain your LPN certification in a year or less and then continue with college course nursing online while you work, earn and obtain vital on-the-job-training. If you move up and become an RN, you can reasonably expect to achieve your goal within two years of receiving your LPN certification. Contrast that with the four years generally required in a traditional on-campus learning environment.

Go from an LPN to an RN with continuing course education nursing online

You can obtain an Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) in as little as twelve months of online study once you have your LPN certification. This normally requires from two to three years on a standard campus. Once you graduate, you become eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Once you pass the exam, you will then become eligible for employment as an RN. You will easily get your Registered Nurse degree online.

You can also study online for a Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) at a college degree nursing online school. This provides somewhat greater career options than an ADN and adds courses of study not available in the ADN program. These include risk reduction, disease management, community health nursing and leadership & management. On traditional campuses, this course of study requires three to four years to complete. You can do it in significantly-less time through online nursing education.

Once you are a degreed RN, you can go still further and achieve a Masters in Nursing Science (MSN) degree from a nursing online registered school.
